# OpenAI and NVIDIA Partner on Massive 10-Gigawatt AI Datacenter Deployment

OpenAI announced via Twitter a major strategic partnership with NVIDIA to deploy 10 gigawatts worth of AI datacenters powered by NVIDIA systems, with the first phase set to launch in 2026.

This partnership represents a significant expansion of AI infrastructure. To put the scale in perspective, 10 gigawatts is an enormous amount of computing power—roughly equivalent to the output of several large power plants dedicated entirely to AI operations.

The collaboration brings together OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT and leading AI research company, with NVIDIA, the dominant provider of AI chips and computing systems. NVIDIA's GPUs have become the industry standard for training and running large AI models.
