The AI company welcomed Dr. Sue Desmond-Hellmann, former CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nicole Seligman, a former Sony executive and legal expert, and Fidji Simo, CEO of Instacart, to its board. Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO, is also returning to the board after his brief removal and reinstatement in November 2023.

This board expansion comes months after a tumultuous period for OpenAI, when Altman was unexpectedly fired and then reinstated just days later following pressure from employees and investors.
